WHAT IS THREADS?
Like Twitter, the app has short text posts that users can like, share and reply to them.
The Facebook owner has launched a new social network called Threads, increasing competition with Musk’s Twitter.
According to a post on the Meta blog, posts can be up to 500 characters long and can contain links, photos and videos up to five minutes long.
The application is available in over 100 countries through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Experts believe that the main advantage of the new application lies in the connection of Threads with Instagram, the user base and the advertising mechanism that Instagram has.
Although Threads was originally launched as a standalone app, users were allowed to sign in using their Instagram credentials and follow the same accounts. This functionality makes it easy to integrate the new app into existing user habits, given the more than two billion active Instagram users each month.
Connecting with existing networks and an already established circle of contacts gives users an immediate initial network to interact with, which can be attractive and beneficial to many. This capability may prove to be an advantage over Twitter, which does not provide users with the same integration with other platforms.
